Examining the Relationship between Academic Leaders’ Communication Skills and their Social Media Usage

This study attempts to investigate the relationship between
academic leaders’ communication skills and their social media usage. To
obtain data, the investigator ensured that surveys were sent to each of
the four universities in the four geographical areas of Saudi Arabia. This
survey instrument was randomly distributed to academic leaders of
four universities in Saudi Arabia, and I received 848 surveys. The
research showed that the overall average of leadership communication
skills was 4.36, while the overall average of the use of social media was
4.30. The analysis of data reveals a statistically significant correlation
between the level of academic leaders’ communication skills and the
level of their use of social media. The data shown above indicate that
there was not a significant difference between social media usage in the
workplace and leaders’ communication skills regarding gender; social
media platform; time on social media each day; workplace, personal, or
business use; or positives and negatives of use.
